National Handwashing Awareness Month

National Handwashing Awareness Month

Diseases are easily spread through contact with other people through out your day to day activities. Washing your hands with soap and water or an alcohol based solution can be a simple way to prevent the infectious germs from spreading. By adopting healthy habits like covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze and cleaning your hands you can avoid the germs this holiday that cause cold and flu.

Your body also needs to be strong in order to fight the germs that you come into contact with. Don't forget to get lots of sleep, drink plenty of fluids, and have a well rounded fitness program and a balanced diet. These everyday tasks will help keep your immune system strong and healthy.

Hand washing is also important when handling any type of raw food. Preparation of food that is contaminated can lead to food poisoning and a very unpleasant experience. These germs can spread to the counter tops and the utensils you are using and can stay there for hours. This is why it is important to be cognizant of everything you use while cooking and make sure to clean up thoroughly with a strong cleaner.
